A collection of photos by photographer William Mark Sommer (beforehand featured here). Having grown up within the small city of Loomis, California, Sommer has a deep appreciation for missed or forgotten locations and the complexities of American life. His inventive observe usually engages in themes of human nature, preservation, empathy, and time. “Black Thumb” is a collection documenting the each day lifetime of his father. By means of pictures, Sommer seeks to develop compassion for his father’s expertise and domesticate a greater relationship with him by way of the artistic act. For Sommer, creating with and about his father isn’t nearly discovering extra about him as an individual, it is usually a journey of self-discovery:
“For my full life, I’ve recognized this man, my father. He was the primary individual to satisfy me on this world, the one that gave me a life to discover artwork and the individual with the best expectations. My father is a person of little phrases, a person that understands machines and is a tough employee who isn’t afraid to get his arms soiled. He has been arduous to dwell with, arduous to get to know, however an individual who cares.”
