Earlier this month, a few ethereal clouds floated over Gansevoort Plaza in Manhattan, though not like these you’d normally see wafting overhead, these clouds descended a bit nearer to Earth. NYCxDESIGN invited Shanghai-based structure studio llLab. to design a pavilion as a part of New York Metropolis’s annual structure pageant, Archtober.
llLab. mixed type and performance in “Bamboo Cloud,” a sculptural oasis within the busy sq., highlighting the class, power, and suppleness of the fabric. The body, practically invisible beneath the woven exterior, holds the natural kinds aloft above the pavement, “offering a spot for spontaneous encounters and gatherings.”
llLab. has labored extensively with bamboo in lots of their initiatives, which you’ll be able to discover in-depth on the studio’s website and Instagram.
