THREE American service members have been injured in an assault carried out by radical group Kataib Hezbollah on Christmas Day.
The assault occurred on the Erbil Air Base, positioned about 225 miles north of Baghdad, Iraq.
In retaliation for the assault, President Biden ordered strikes on three services “utilized by Kataib Hezbollah and affiliated teams in Iraq,” Secretary of Protection Lloyd J. Austin stated late on Monday.
“These precision strikes are a response to a collection of assaults towards US personnel in Iraq and Syria by Iranian-sponsored militias, together with an assault by Iran-affiliated Kataib Hezbollah and affiliated teams on Erbil Air Base earlier right now, and meant to disrupt and degrade capabilities of the Iran-aligned militia teams instantly accountable,” Austin stated.
The protection secretary confirmed the three accidents, including that one service member is in crucial situation.
