A robust earthquake has hit Australia, with shockwaves being reportedly felt a number of kilometres away from the epicentre.
The 4.1-magnitude tremor struck at round 4pm native time (7.30am BST) on Wednesday, in an space north-east of Jamestown, within the South Australia state.
The tremor hit at a depth of 1 kilometre, in line with Geoscience Australia, the federal government’s web site devoted to geoscience issues. One native reportedly mentioned the earthquake was felt “far and huge” – reportedly so far as Adelaide, situated some 200km away from the epicentre.
One native wrote on social media: “Gave the impression of a practice happening Sixth Avenue, no marvel my poor outdated home is cracking up!”
There have been no rapid stories of casualties.
