A search continues for clues within the mysterious 27-year-old disappearance of a person who ran out of fuel on Freeway 101, California authorities stated.
Scott Paul Hayes, 19, set out from Humboldt County to visit his girlfriend in Southern California on Jan. 8, 1996, county sheriff’s officers stated in a Sept. 6 information launch.
His maroon Chevrolet Sonoma pickup truck was discovered the subsequent day parked on the aspect of the freeway close to Redcrest, investigators stated. Hayes had run out of fuel.
One other driver later reported giving a trip to a person resembling Hayes who stated he had run out of fuel. The driving force dropped him off on the aspect of the freeway when he started appearing surprisingly.
When the opposite driver returned 10 minutes later with gasoline, the stranded motorist was gone.
One other individual reported seeing a person resembling Hayes appearing surprisingly at a motel, the place he was not given a room, sheriff’s officers stated. The person was final seen strolling away.
Hayes has not been seen since Jan. 9, 1996, and all leads “have been exhausted,” the sheriff’s workplace stated.
